The PRONTO app offers a convenient solution for purchasing fares for MTS and NCTD. By using this app, you can easily add funds to your PRONTO account and simply scan your phone at the validator each time you embark on a trip. Our pay-as-you-go feature ensures that you always receive the most favorable fare. To scan your barcode with the app, please hold your phone approximately 5 to 6 inches below the validator.

In addition to its fare purchasing capabilities, the PRONTO app serves as a valuable tool for trip planning, providing real-time arrival information, service statuses, favorite station saving options, and a comprehensive transit stop locator specifically designed for San Diego County area.

Always Get The Best Fare:

PRONTO enables you to pay-as-you-go* by simply depositing funds into your PRONTO account using a credit or debit card. Every time you scan your app, the appropriate one-way fare is automatically deducted from your balance. Validators can be found at Trolley, SPRINTER and COASTER stations, as well as onboard buses.

With PRONTO, you will never be charged more than a Day Pass ($6 Adult or $3 Reduced Fare) within a given calendar day, regardless of the number of trips taken. Similarly, you will never be charged more than a Month Pass ($72 Adult or $23 Reduced Fare) regardless of the number of trips made during a calendar month.

In the PRONTO app, you can conveniently keep track of your progress towards a Day or Month Pass.

*Pay-as-you-go features are not available for COASTER, where prepayment for Day or Month Pass is required.
